The Scottish Butcher's Club

The Scottish Butchers Club is run by QMS and has over 300 members across GB, who are independent butchers and are approved stockists of Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork. Being a member, McLays provides a range of beef, pork and lamb suitable for this.

Quality Meat Scotland's whole chain assurance scheme means only animals that meet their stringent assurance standards at every point in their lives are eligible to be classed as Scotch Beef or Scotch Lamb.

Farms are inspected annually and only then can the classification 'Scotch Beef', 'Scotch Lamb' or ‘Specially Selected Pork’ be awarded to those cattle, sheep or pigs that have been born and raised on assured Scottish farms and processed by assured processors in Scotland.

What is PGI?

Always look for the PGI Promise. PGI stands for Protected Geographical Indication. It’s an EU scheme to protect and promote traditional and regional food products of high quality which are unique to a geographic area. Scotch Beef and Lamb have long held this coveted PGI status.
